ASUU strike: Embrace dialogue – Progressives Governors tell union, ,

The Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to embrace dialogue in addressing its grievances with the Federal Government.

This appeal was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the Forum’s two-day meeting, read by its Chairman and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

The governors urged ASUU to consider the future of Nigerian students and the nation by resolving all lingering issues through peaceful engagement.

Senator Uzodimma also disclosed that the Forum had resolved to pursue economic diversification and promote rural development across the states.

“We are also committed to working with the Federal Government to expand domestic production, especially in the area of food security,” he stated.

The governors reaffirmed their support for community policing and extended condolences to citizens affected by insecurity, expressing solidarity with the victims and their families.

Commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, the Forum noted that his administration has recorded significant progress in economic recovery and national security, with inflation reportedly declining.

“President Tinubu has strengthened national unity and is providing progressive leadership across all regions,” Uzodimma added.

The Forum also welcomed the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, assuring him of their unwavering support.

Uzodimma concluded that there is now “greater understanding and engagement between the Federal Government and the states,” a partnership the governors pledged to sustain.
