Why we dump PDP for APC – Senator Fadahunsi,
By Shina Abubakar, Osogbo
The Senator representing Osun-East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, has disclosed that he, along with four other federal lawmakers, joined the All Progressives Congress APC in the interest of their people.
He added that the decision was made simple following President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructural and social interventions in their various constituencies.
Fadahunsi a two-term Senator alongside Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central), Hon. Oluwole Oke (Obokun/Ori-Ade), Hon. Sanya Omirin (Ijesa South Federal Constituency), and Hon. Taofeek Ajilesoro (Ife Federal Constituency) had dumped Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2025 and were officially received into the party in Osogbo while President Tinubu was being endorsed for a second term in office.
Senator Fadahunsi, speaking with newsmen on the side of the event, explained that they decided to join APC because ofthe undeniable infrastructure and attention given to Osun state especially their constituencies by the administration of President Tinubu.
“Today, after a long reflection, we have made the decision to leave the PDP and officially join APC. This is no whimsical decision. It’s a collective move by the political family in Osun State, comprising members of the National Assembly, members of the State Government, before the state government was rejected and over 80% of party executives.”
He stated that the lawmakers for years Osun, especially in Osun-East stood firmly behind the PDP which shaped the party’s success, but their voices were often disregarded when it mattered most, hence it become necessary to seek affiliation where their interests as a region are represented in the form of a fair partnership.
He highlighted that so far the Osun East has enjoyed infrastructural transformation including Akure-Ilesa- Ife-Ibadan express road dualization, restoration of water supply in the Constituency, over 700 kilometres of paved rural roads, establishment of Orthopedic hospital Obokun, School of Nursing, Ijebu-jesa and Federal Medical Centre Ilesa amongst other passed bills are awaiting Presidential assent.
The lawmaker said Tinubu’s administration established Federal University of Agriculture, Iragbiji, Federal University Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, multimillion naira of quality health equipments have been given to our hospitals among other interventions in the health sector, saying they are attestation to President Tinubu’s commitment and value for human lives.
According to him, Joining the APC, we are embracing a visionary partnership. I have found in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, not just a leader of our nation, but a partner in purpose, a man with the courage to look beyond today and make the tough choices that secures lasting prosperity for future.
“Together, we share a conviction that transformation must be bold and disruptive, that roads, railways, and airlines must stretch out from the heart of the West; that Osun’s promise, its security, its schools, its hospitals, its markets, its communities must be reinforced.
“The President has shown not only interest, but a deep and vested commitment to Osun state, one that recognises our region as a pillar of national progress. We both welcome initiatives that decentralises opportunity, that strengthens the capacity of local government, that bring seed capital and credit to our youths, and that expand healthcare and education at the community level.
“Just as we do in our ward-based development initiatives, these convictions are boldly expressed in the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme, an idea conceived to empower over 8.8 million Nigerians across the country’s 8,809 electoral wards.”
“We unequivocally endorsed President Bola Tinubu for second term, we support the President’s transformative infrastructure projects and sound economic policies, which have already begun to yield tangible benefits most notably the significant reduction in food prices and marked improvements in national security, underscored their pride in representing a constituency that stands firmly behind President Tinubu’s visionary leadership,” he added.
