    FUTA Honours Graduates, Emeritus Professors and Notable Nigerians in Grand Convocation Ceremony

    The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), marked a historic milestone during its recent convocation ceremony, where graduates, emeritus professors, and prominent Nigerians were celebrated for their contributions to academic excellence, innovation, and societal development.

    Addressing the gathering, FUTA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, congratulated the graduands and acknowledged the unwavering support of the federal government.

    She emphasized how recent interventions had elevated the university’s infrastructure and reputation on the global stage.

    “Your commitment to excellence is evident in the caliber of graduates this university has always produced. You have transformed FUTA into a world-class institution with groundbreaking records in research and technological innovations,” Oladiji stated, lauding the institution’s trajectory of success.

    In a highlight of the event, three retired professors were awarded the title of Emeritus Professors for their outstanding contributions to academia and research:

    Professor Adebisi Balogun – Emeritus Professor of Fish Nutrition and Agricultural Biochemistry.

    Professor (Venerable) Akin Laseinde – Emeritus Professor of Animal Production and Health.

    Professor Labunmi Lajide – Emeritus Professor of Organic and Medicinal Chemistry.

    Celebrating Distinguished Personalities

    Honorary doctorate degrees were conferred on notable individuals whose exceptional achievements have impacted various fields:

    Professor Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, Founder of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry, was recognized for his contributions to management science.

    Mr. Joel Ogunsola, a renowned IT expert and FUTA alumnus, was honored for his transformative role in ICT development.

    Mr. Ayorinde Olurinde Ogunruku, former Registrar of Obafemi Awolowo University, received accolades for his innovations in university administration.

    Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, challenged the graduates to leverage their education for national progress. “As you go forth, remember that education is a powerful tool for transformation. Use your knowledge to make a positive impact in your communities and our great nation,” he said.

    Professor Olukoya, in his keynote address, urged the graduands to remain focused and uphold the values instilled during their time at FUTA, emphasizing resilience and determination as keys to success.

    The convocation saw the award of 1,280 higher degrees, underscoring FUTA’s commitment to academic excellence. The breakdown included:

    344 Postgraduate Diplomas

    756 Master’s Degrees

    180 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degrees

    The grand ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment to FUTA’s mission of driving technological advancement and producing transformative leaders for the nation.
