The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the conduct of the Computer-Based WASSCE (CB-WASSCE) for School Candidates in 2025.

This follows the successful implementation of the computer-based format during the WASSCE (PC1) and (PC2) in 2024, which recorded improved candidate performance and a decline in examination malpractice.

WAEC stated that the decision is part of its commitment to “continuous excellent customer service delivery through consolidation of technology-driven innovations which are in line with world best practices.”

Schools interested in participating in the 2025 CB-WASSCE are invited to express their willingness and readiness to join this landmark initiative.

In a statement signed by Mrs. E.N. Onodu, Senior Deputy Registrar (Test Administration), WAEC noted, “Your declaration of interest should reach us on or before January 7, 2025, in order to facilitate adequate arrangements.”

The selection process will operate on a “first come, first served” basis and depend on the adequacy of facilities within the schools. Schools that do not meet the criteria for the CB-WASSCE will still have the option to participate in the traditional pen-and-pencil examination.

This initiative reflects WAEC commitment to leveraging technology to enhance examination integrity, efficiency, and candidate success.
