Beyond the Classroom: Blooming Greens High School Students Engage in Telecom Discourse at Nigeria Telecommunications Summit

In a bid to broaden their leadership horizons and gain firsthand exposure to industry trends, students of Blooming Greens High School, Yaba, Lagos, participated in the Nigeria Telecommunications Summit, an event held in honour of renowned Political Economist, Professor Pat Utomi, as part of activities marking his 69th birthday.

The summit, organized by the Centre for Values in Leadership (CVL), took place on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the MUSON Centre, Lagos, with the theme: “Creating a Competitive Edge in the 4th Industrial Revolution for Telecommunications Infrastructure in Nigeria.”

The event featured a keynote address by Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, Chairman of MTN Nigeria, who provided an in-depth analysis of how Nigeria can harness the Fourth Industrial Revolution to strengthen its telecommunications infrastructure.

The summit highlights that Nigeria’s telecom sector must embrace cutting-edge technology and smart regulations to remain competitive in the global digital economy.

A distinguished panel of experts, including His Excellency Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Kashifu Abdullahi, Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Abuja, and Engr. Wole Ogunsanya, Chairman of Geoplex Oil & Gas Ltd, shared insights on the future of Nigeria’s telecom sector.

The session was chaired by Mavi Sokia Isibor, Founder of Poise Nigeria, who underscored the significance of telecom advancements in driving national development.

Blooming Greens High School, founded by former banker Mrs. Susan Babatunde-Yamah, places a strong emphasis on leadership training, critical thinking, and exposure to global conversations shaping the future.

Their participation in the summit was part of the school’s commitment to equipping students with real-world knowledge beyond traditional classroom learning.

The students engaged in stimulating discussions with industry experts, gaining invaluable insights into the impact of telecommunications on economic growth and innovation.

The students shared their excitement. Attending this summit has opened their eyes to how technology is transforming Nigeria. It was inspiring to listen to experts discuss real-world solutions. Beyond the classroom, this experience showed them how leadership and technology are interconnected. They left the event with a broader perspective on how they can contribute to the future of Nigeria.

By attending this high-profile summit, the students not only gained knowledge but also saw the importance of being proactive in national and global discussions shaping the future of technology and leadership. Their participation aligns with Blooming Greens High School’s mission to nurture future leaders by exposing them to transformative learning experiences outside academic walls.
