    NECO releases 2025 results, ,

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2025 results of the internal Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

According to the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, a total of 1,367,210 candidates registered for the examination, made up of 685,514 males and 681,696 females. Out of this number, 1,358,339 candidates actually sat for the exams.

Professor Wushishi explained that 818,492 candidates, representing 60.26 percent, scored five credits and above including Mathematics and English. He added that 1,144,496 candidates, or 84.26 percent, scored five credits and above regardless of Mathematics and English.

He disclosed that results from eight schools in Lamorde Local Government Area of Adamawa State were withheld due to a communal clash that disrupted the exams between July 7 and 25, 2025. Thirteen subjects and 29 papers were affected. Wushishi said the council was already in talks with the government to reschedule the exams for students in the affected schools.

The Registrar also revealed that 38 schools across 13 states were found to have engaged in mass cheating. “They will be invited to the Council Headquarters before appropriate sanctions are applied,” he said.

In addition, nine supervisors were recommended for blacklisting over various offences. These include three each from Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, and one each from Niger, Kano, and Osun States.

Their offences ranged from poor supervision and aiding malpractice to lateness, unruly behavior, assault, and insubordination.
