‘No Room for Killers’: Mutfwang vows to hunt down Barkin Ladi attackers,

    By Golok Nanmwa, Jos

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has vowed to bring perpetrators of the recent gunmen attacks in Dorowa Babuje and Jong communities of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area to justice, assuring residents that there will be no hiding place for killers.

Represented by his deputy, Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo, the governor visited the affected communities to commiserate with victims and reaffirm the government’s commitment to sustaining peace in the state.

Mutfwang expressed deep sorrow over the attacks, describing them as a painful setback, and disclosed that security agencies have been directed to intensify investigations, track down the perpetrators, and ensure they face the full weight of the law.

“Acts of violence against innocent citizens will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he declared, stressing that his administration remains fair, just, and inclusive, without favouritism toward any group, tribe, or religion.

He urged residents, particularly youths, to remain vigilant and law-abiding, while cautioning against reprisals, road blockages, or any actions capable of escalating tensions.

Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Hon. Stephen Pwajok, commended security operatives for their prompt response in containing the situation and preventing further bloodshed.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Non-Governmental Organisations, Hon. Abubakar Kanam, also reiterated the government’s concern for citizens’ welfare and called for unity and cooperation with authorities.

Traditional ruler, the Gwom Rwei of Barkin Ladi, Da Edward Bot, described the attacks as a blow to the area’s development and appealed to residents to embrace dialogue to restore normalcy.

Religious and community leaders echoed calls for tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Barkin Ladi, Rev. Samson Dido, emphasized that no religion is superior to another and urged mutual respect among residents.

Similarly, Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jong community, Alhaji Tambari Gizo, thanked the government for its show of solidarity and encouraged all parties to pursue reconciliation.

Members of the governor’s entourage included the Coordinator of Operation Rainbow, Gen. Gakji Shipi (rtd), and the Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, Alhaji Daiyabu Dauda, among other senior officials.

The visit underscored the state government’s resolve to strengthen security and preserve the fragile peace in Plateau communities while ensuring justice for victims of the attacks.
