The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with the death of popular gospel artiste Matthew Ogundele and three others inside a music studio in Ajah, Lagos State.

The victims also include Itunu Ogundele, Joseph Sanya, and blogger Matthew Awosanya, popularly known as JoesTv. They were found dead on Wednesday at a studio within the HFP Shopping Complex along the Abraham Adesanya axis of Ajah.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, told Vanguard on Sunday that the case, initially reported at the Ajah Police Division, has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.

“One suspect, identified as the organiser of the event, is currently in custody. Investigation is ongoing while we await the autopsy report,” Adebisi stated.

Police said the victims were part of a gospel music crew invited to perform at a birthday praise programme organised by the studio owner’s wife. After completing their session late Tuesday, they stayed overnight in the studio. The following morning, the studio owner found the door locked from the inside. Forced entry revealed the four deceased.

Police detectives reportedly observed no visible signs of violence on the bodies. The victims were confirmed dead at Mainland Hospital, Yaba, and their remains were deposited at the Mainland General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

The incident has attracted widespread reactions, particularly on social media, with friends, colleagues, and members of the gospel music community demanding a thorough investigation and justice for the deceased. die inside Lagos studio
