Power Restored, Hope Renewed: Minister Sparks Turnaround at King’s College

In a decisive effort to improve educational conditions, the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, made an unscheduled visit to King’s College Main Campus in TBS, Lagos, to address the long-standing electricity crisis that had left students and staff grappling with inadequate power supply.

During his inspection, Dr. Alausa discovered that the school had been experiencing a prolonged disconnection from Eko and Electricity Distribution Company (Eko Disco), severely disrupting the learning environment. Determined to secure an immediate solution, he promptly engaged Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, Chairman of Eko Disco, to intervene without delay.

Eko Disco’s swift response came through its CEO, Mrs. Rekhiat Momoh, who initiated immediate testing procedures. This decisive action culminated in a significant breakthrough when, at exactly 9:41 PM on February 19, power was fully restored to the main campus.

Confirming the milestone restoration, the Principal of King’s College, Mr. Magaji Zachariah, expressed his gratitude, stating,
“To God be all the glory, our main campus light was restored at exactly 9:41 PM today.”

Under Dr. Alausa’s leadership, the Federal Ministry of Education remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring conducive learning environments across all unity schools in Nigeria. The Minister extended his sincere appreciation to both Dr. Olowolafe and Mrs. Momoh for their prompt and effective responses, assuring that the situation would be continuously monitored to prevent future disruptions.

This intervention not only restores essential services to King’s College but also underscores the Ministry’s unwavering dedication to upgrading school infrastructure and ensuring that no student is left in the dark—both academically and literally.
