Suurulere Girls Senior Secondary School Student, Edem Favour, Wins N1 Million Grand Prize at TCK Zone District Digital Challenge

Edem Favour, a student of Surulere Girls Senior Secondary School in Lagos Education District IV, emerged as the grand prize winner of N1 million at the TCK Zone District Digital Challenge.

The competition, aimed at fostering digital literacy among public secondary school students in Lagos State, saw hundreds of students showcasing their tech skills.

Olawale Alex from Mafoluku Senior Grammar School, Lagos Education District VI, claimed the second-place prize of N500,000, while Bennybonny Prosper of Oregun Senior High School, also in District VI, secured the third-place prize of N300,000.

In addition to student awards, Agoro Olamipo received the Top Performing Teacher award, which came with a prize of N200,000, for exceptional dedication to digital education.

Organized by Creative Kids Zone Initiative (TCK Zone), a non-profit organization founded by Oluwadamilola Ojo, the challenge is part of the group’s flagship program, Digital Skills Fellowship for Young Students. This initiative aims to equip 500,000 pupils across Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya with accessible and affordable digital skills.

The competition involved 491 public schools across Lagos State’s six educational districts, where students underwent a rigorous four-week digital skills curriculum.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, commended the initiative. “This initiative has set a benchmark for digital education, preparing our students for a competitive global future,” he stated.

The TCK Zone District Digital Challenge underscores the growing importance of integrating technology into Nigeria’s education sector, paving the way for a digitally empowered generation.
