The daughter of President Bola Tinubu and the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Mujidat Tinubu-Ojo, has awarded scholarships to over 1,000 indigent students seeking to achieve their academic and professional aspirations at Havilla University in Cross River State for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The award, valued at N400,000, is in commemoration of her second anniversary as the university’s pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council.

In a chat with journalists after the anniversary ceremony, she said that the initiative reflects her commitment to youth empowerment and educational advancement.

She described education as “the only leveller between the rich and the poor in society”, emphasising that every Nigerian youth deserves access to quality education to ensure a brighter future for the nation.

The Iyaloja-General thanked the governing council, led by the Chancellor, Hon. Jones Tangban, a former member representing Ikom/Boki federal constituency, for the exceptional leadership, which has ranked the institution among Africa’s leading universities.

In his remarks, Tangban commended Tinubu-Ojo for her generosity, saying that her gesture aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu’s administration, even though the scholarships are personally funded.

The scholarship programme adds to her extensive record of educational support, with thousands of beneficiaries across institutions such as Philomath University, GrandPlus College of Education in Kwara State, and the Foreign Link Academy campuses nationwide.

The Iyaloja-General had earlier inaugurated the Folasade Tinubu-Ojo Complex of the Havilla University. She also laid the foundation for the Folasade Tinubu-Ojo Centre for Vocational Studies on the university grounds, further strengthening her legacy in educational development.

She urged beneficiaries to embrace the opportunity with utmost seriousness, both now and in the near future.
