University of Port Harcourt Alumnus, Samuel Nwajagu, Makes History as First African to Win Mister International

Nigerian model and graduate of the University of Port Harcourt, Samuel Nwajagu, has made history by becoming the first African to win the prestigious Mister International title.

His victory came during the 16th edition of the competition, held in Bangkok, Thailand, where contestants from 47 countries battled for the crown.

This year’s event stood out not only for its fierce competition but also for the participation of debutant nations, including Cameroon, England, Benin Republic, and Mali. Contestants engaged in a series of activities, from city tours to preliminary rounds that showcased their physical attributes, cultural attire, and formal wear. Each participant also addressed current global issues, displaying their intelligence, eloquence, and charisma.

Nwajagu triumphed over strong contenders, including Nguyễn Mạnh Lân from Vietnam and Glenn Victor Sutanto from Indonesia, to claim the coveted title.

The moment was made even more special as the outgoing champion, Kim Thitisan Goodburn of Thailand, crowned Nwajagu as his successor in a touching handover.

Reflecting on his journey, Nwajagu emphasized the importance of fitness and personal growth, stating, “Embracing a healthy life through fitness while unlocking your full potential.”

A proud graduate of the University of Port Harcourt, Nwajagu had already made a name for himself in the fashion industry, working with renowned brands such as Tice Grandiose and Veejayrex.

His path to international recognition began in July, when he won the Mister International Nigeria title, securing his place in the global competition and ultimately cementing his legacy as a trailblazer for African models on the world stage.
