{"id":16087,"date":"2025-12-21T09:31:25","date_gmt":"2025-12-21T09:31:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edumarkng.com\/news\/ban-of-ss3-transfer-by-nigerian-govt-ignores-northern-realities-rights-activist\/"},"modified":"2025-12-21T09:31:25","modified_gmt":"2025-12-21T09:31:25","slug":"ban-of-ss3-transfer-by-nigerian-govt-ignores-northern-realities-rights-activist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/edumarkng.com\/news\/ban-of-ss3-transfer-by-nigerian-govt-ignores-northern-realities-rights-activist\/","title":{"rendered":"Ban of SS3 transfer by Nigerian govt ignores Northern realities \u2013\u00a0Rights activist\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align:center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dailypost.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/school-2.jpg\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"Ban of SS3 transfer by Nigerian govt ignores Northern realities \u2013\u00a0Rights activist\u00a0\" title=\"Ban of SS3 transfer by Nigerian govt ignores Northern realities \u2013\u00a0Rights activist\u00a0\" \/><\/div><p>Ban of SS3 transfer by Nigerian govt ignores Northern realities \u2013\u00a0Rights activist\u00a0, <!-- no image -->,  <\/p>\n<p>A prominent digital and human rights activist, Muhammed Bello Buhari has criticised the Nigerian government\u2019s newly announced ban on the admission and transfer of students into Senior Secondary School Three (SS3), warning that the policy overlooks the realities of insecurity and displacement in Northern Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government recently announced a nationwide ban on the admission and transfer of students into SS3 in both public and private secondary schools across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The directive was issued by the Federal Ministry of Education in a press release dated December 14, 2025, and signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade.<\/p>\n<p>According to the ministry, the decision followed \u201cgrowing concerns over the increasing incidence of examination malpractice, including the use of so called special centres during external examinations.\u201d It stated that the policy would take effect from the 2026\/2027 academic session, adding that \u201cadmission or transfer into SS3 will no longer be permitted under any circumstance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the announcement, Buhari expressed concern in a post shared on his Facebook page on Sunday, arguing that the policy would unfairly affect children whose education has been disrupted by banditry, terrorism and forced migration in the North.<\/p>\n<p>He said many families in the region relocate not to seek academic advantage, but to escape violent attacks that have destroyed communities and schools, an issue he said was ignored in the policy design.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the North, most of the people are not moving because they are chasing special centres,\u201d Buhari wrote. \u201cThey are moving because their villages have been attacked. Because bandits came at night.
