Bihina saves four penalties as Cameroon beat Morocco to reach WAFCON Final,

Cameroon goalkeeper Michaely Bihina produced a remarkable performance as the Indomitable Lionesses defeated hosts Morocco on penalties to reach the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final.

The 22-year-old was the heroine in a dramatic semi-final in Rabat, making a crucial save in extra time before stopping three more penalties in the shootout.

With the match still goalless in the 118th minute, Morocco were awarded a penalty, but Bihina kept out Fatima Tagnaout’s effort from 12 yards to keep Cameroon alive.

Neither side could find a breakthrough before the final whistle, sending the contest into a penalty shootout after 120 minutes of action.

Bihina then delivered again, brilliantly saving attempts from Kenza Chappelle, Maryame Atiq and Sakina Ouzraoui as the hosts struggled from the spot.

With Morocco’s players and supporters stunned at the Moulay Hassan Stadium, teenage Cameroon defender Maryam Nyadjou held her nerve to convert the decisive penalty and seal a 3-1 shootout victory for the Central Africans.

The result sends Cameroon into Sunday’s final, where they will face Malawi at 19:00 GMT.

Malawi booked their place in the title decider earlier on Wednesday after beating Algeria 3-1.

Cameroon will now look to complete their impressive run by lifting the WAFCON trophy, while Malawi will

be aiming to claim the continental title in what promises to be a historic final.
