Delta 2027: Why Ogboru will disappoint critics,
By Benson Ndokwe
Come 2027 in Delta State, it will be liberation time for Deltans when Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru and his African Democratic Congress (ADC) win the governorship election. Many critics will be taken aback while others will be astounded for somebody who has been written off. And so shall it be as Ogboru is a game changer.
The hidden truths about Delta politics will be unveiled. He will set the motion for an accelerated growth of the state while expanding the scope and numbers of those benefiting from the so-called dividends of democracy.
Ultimately, it is Deltans that will benefit as the sole aim of Ogboru is to see a greater number of Deltans crossing the poverty index. Deltans must not follow the old and usual pattern of voting during the 2027 elections.
They must vote for change enmass, no matter the monetary inducement. Regardless of tribe or religion, Deltans must do the needful in ensuring that Ogboru wins the guber election.
It is only when this is done that the gains and benefits of democracy will accrue to the people. Deltans have suffered for too long a time despite its huge oil and gas deposits and also being one of the country’s greatest contributors to our Gross Domestic Product – GDP.
It is my fervent prayers that God should open the eyes of Deltans to collectively deviate from their business as usual and vote in Ogboru to kick-start the needed change in the politics of the state.
Ogboru knows what the state truly lacks. He knows the inadequacies bedeviling the affairs of the state. Hence, he will pilot the affairs of the state in a pivotal way to attract the much sought-after Foreign Direct Investments. The state shall become a hub of industrialization and manufacturing, which will mean the creation of jobs for our teeming jobless youths. This will, in turn, increase the economic profile of the state. Clusters of cottage industries would be established in all the nooks and crannies of the state. Deltans should come out en masse on election day to make this change possible.
It was PLATO who said, “One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.” Furthermore, Socrates said, “the wise who refuse to rule should prepare to suffer the rules of idiots.”
Those who write off Ogboru are doing so at their own peril. His popularity across the length and breadth of Delta state is spreading like a wild fire. This can only be likened to the Finger of God upon his life.
Women empowerment shall be given the necessary attention it deserves because of the motherly roles women play in society.
The 2027 elections in Delta State should be given a level playing ground for free and fair elections without intimidation and other negative vices as witnessed in past elections. Candidates should be free to canvass for votes from the electorates.
If this is done, then it will be goodbye to bad riddance while we welcome the peoples general to take his rightful position in the governance of the state.
